Hugo & Pierre founded a first entity in 2015 as a family office in Dubai to develop an innovative financing model. Two years and over 30 transactions later, they decided to take the next step to implement their vision.
Having demonstrated a capacity for ‘thinking outside the box’ and creating never-before-seen financing solutions to their portfolio companies, they realized that to extend the ability of a firm to be at the forefront of innovation, financial engineering wasn’t enough. Thus, they associated with Jean-Luc Elhoueiss (PhD) for his demonstrated legal expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions and Amaury Mamou-Mani for his entrepreneurial experience and his expertise in digital transformation.
Together, the new team has gone on to found Alpha Blue Ocean, the name of which refers to both the concept of Alpha and the INSEAD-born concept of Blue Ocean Strategy®.

The major portion of the foundation’s fund are committed to supporting access to education worldwide and knowledge sharing initiatives.

Our first step is assessing the investment universe to identify prospective investments and potential situations within our fields and markets of interest. The first segregation of the studied population establishes the foundation of our base of prospects that may lead to originations. However, some of our most exciting opportunities have also developed thanks to companies coming directly to us.
The array of potential investments that we have identified then go through a parametric scoring model to highlight the most exciting and promising opportunities.
Initial swift due diligence confirms the quantified results with a human approach to ensure the shortlisted investments best fits our investment policies and criteria.
Following the initial quantitative due diligence process, we make our first contact with the company’s management. We believe that the most important due diligence is the one we convey to people. Once a mutual interest is confirmed, we proceed to lay out the operational implications of entering into such a transaction. To develop the most thorough and objective understanding of our partners’ businesses, we dedicate a sizeable amount of resources and time to our analysis.

Blue Ocean approaches each investment with equal parts of optimism and pragmatism while pitching the balance of arguments to the investment committee to deliver the first official draft proposal. As every company is different, Blue Ocean customizes each transaction on an exclusive basis. From private to public debt and equity investments, to structured and straight equity participations, we offer a wide spectrum of tailored solutions.
After an official term sheet is issued, we start to perfect the structure through a dialogue with management. This allows for the most interest aligning transaction that will benefit the company’s stakeholders and investors. We design our operations to leverage win-win situations and set our model within a blue ocean of uncontested market space.
Once all parties are happy to proceed with the transaction, we finish with the closing and signing of the final documentation and are ready to start working together. We know time is money, especially for entrepreneurs, so we offer a 3-week timeline, from the first contact to the closing deal and release of funds.
When signing the deal, the post-closing involvement period kicks-off. This includes unlimited financial and business advice, growth acceleration proposals, intra and extra portfolio synergies, risk management and monitoring of social impact.

Pierre is a Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Blue Ocean, an international alternative investment firm having representations in London, Geneva and Victoria. He leads the investment strategy and represents the company on all fronts.
He has created an innovative financing philosophy which aims at switching from direct market risk toward model risk while guarantying the adequate financing of a given company.
Since the beginning of his career, he has actively implemented billions of dollars in direct and optional commitments for international businesses and projects whether public or private.
Before the creation of the Blue Ocean Investment Group, Pierre was the Founder and CEO of the Bracknor Investment Group, a family office based in Dubai. Under his leadership over EUR €400 millions have been deployed through international and cross-border transactions over 2 years.
Previously, he worked as an Investment Professional in a small alternative investment boutique based in London. Pierre was involved in all transactional aspects from origination and structuring to the monitoring of transactions once executed.
Prior to this, Pierre worked as a Financial Advisor for Mergers and Acquisitions within ENGIE (ex-GDF SUEZ) in Paris during which time he structured and closed over 12 wind project finance deals, and participated in legal tenders for energy production assets and impairment tests effectively processing over EUR 1’000 Millions of transactions whether on both buy and sell side.
Pierre has two degrees from NEOMA Business School in France. Before graduating as Valedictorian in 2013 of a postgraduate Specialized Master in International Finance with a major in Advanced Econometrics, he graduated with a BSc. in International Business Administration.
He is fluent in French, English, and German.
His areas of expertise and focus are: Healthcare (Biotech & Medtech), Energy & Information Technologies.
Hugo Pingray is a Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Alpha Blue Ocean.
He covers all aspect of the business, managing the firm’s operational risk and its financial planning, while originating and closing PIPE’s transactions - with an emphasis on emerging markets. To this date, he has assisted in deploying over EUR 200 Million across the world, oftentimes successfully implementing complex financially engineered solutions for issuers in jurisdictions that had never seen them before.
Born and raised in Martinique, Hugo has always been a creative and strategic thinker. In addition to his work, he is a sport enthusiast and one of the most successful poker player of his generation. He captured a World Champion title in 2014, and his game theory approach to the game allowed him to earn millions online in tracked earnings.
Before co-founding ABO, Hugo co-founded the Bracknor Investment Group, a Dubai based family office. Earlier he had been an Investment analyst at a London based alternative investment firm.
Hugo studied in IESEG School of Management, holds a Bachelor of Science from Vatel Business School as well as a certificate in Corporate Finance from HEC Paris and is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
Amaury is a Founding Partner and Executive Director at Alpha Blue Ocean. Following deals all along the process, he manages the middle, the back office and the trade desk. Amaury will be focused on the digital transformation market.
Entrepreneur at heart and passionate about new technology, Amaury has naturally turned towards the digital transformation sector. After contributing to the development of the customer portfolios of several start-ups, he decided to create Mavany Inc.: a gasoline delivery application, where he operated as CEO and CFO.
Eager to solve problems, his core leitmotiv is « where there is a will, there is a way ».
Amaury started its education with a MSc in Corporate Finance and Banking from EDHEC Business School, that he completed with a specialized master in business development from NEOMA Business School. He refined his education with a certificate in Corporate Finance from Columbia BS. He is fluent French, English and Spanish.
